Long time runner and CBHM veteran Jane Lemire has been involved in fundraising in the Upper Valley since 2003. Jane and her Team of runners pioneered TeamAlzheimers for CBHM in 2004 by turning 15 race entries into $7,000 in donations. Since then, TeamAlzheimers has raised over $100,000. All funds are donated to several Upper Valley private non-profit senior organizations that specialize in the care and/or services for people with dementia. TeamAlzheimers is a totally volunteer organization that donates 100% of its proceeds back into the community.
Members of TeamAlzheimers commit to raise $350 dollars.

David’s House was founded in 1986 in memory of David Cyr, who passed away at the age of 5 from leukemia. During his many hospitalizations, David often begged his parents to take the other sick and injured children home with him to his house, his safe haven away from the pain and uncertainty of the hospital. David’s House is the realization of David’s dream.
Now, 26 years later, it’s been a home-away-from-home for over 12,000 families from around the world. David’s House is a 15-bedroom (**soon to be 19!!) home for families of ill or injured children for as little as one night or many, many months while their child is being treated at the Children’s Hospital at DHMC in Lebanon, NH.
Because of generous supporters like you, we do not charge a fee and no one is ever turned away due to an inability to contribute.
**Your help is more important now than ever! We’re in the midst of a campaign called Keeping David’s Promise that will, among other things, add four more bedrooms to our House!
Over the last 5 years, we’ve had to deny over 900 requests for rooms; we’re excited to serve more families and need your help to raise the funds!
** Members of the David’s House CBHM Team are encouraged to raise $500 (donations are tax deductible), and are responsible for the $75 race registration fee. In recognition of your generous support, David’s House will provide:
- A gathering tent at the finish of the race with delicious refreshments
- Personalized fundraising web pages
- Free post-race massages
- Runner appreciation gifts
- A Team David’s House photo and/or individual runner photo

Health Connections of the Upper Valley
If you’re running in the Covered Bridge Half Marathon chances are you are neither a smoker nor obese, and you understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. You are a wonderful role model for others, so keep it up! Health Connections’ principle focus is on the two most significant causes of preventable death and chronic disease: tobacco use and obesity, more specifically, youth obesity. While we, here in the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire, live in a beautiful place, the reality is approximately 19% of adults smoke and about 40% of children are exposed to second-hand smoke, primarily because they live with a smoker, and about 1 in 5 children are overweight or obese.
To help people quit tobacco, Health Connections offers the Fresh Start program for adults and the N.O.T. (Not On Tobacco) program for teens. Through Fresh Start, adults have access to free nicotine replacement aids, such as the patch, gum or lozenges to help them through the first few weeks of being quit. The N.O.T. program teaches teens positive coping skills that are transferrable to other aspects of their lives besides tobacco use. Health Connections’ Whole Foods-Whole Body and Kick’n Cook’n Classes for Kids are two nutrition education programs that educate youth about healthy eating in fun and interactive ways.
Your fundraising will be directly used to support Health Connections’ outreach initiatives.
We are asking runners to send their $75 registration fee, made payable to Health Connections, to Health Connections, and to raise a minimum of $350 with the goal of raising $500. As a thank you, you will receive a post race massage at our exhibit area and some other goodies. Prizes will be given to the top fundraisers. Thank you so very, very much for your support!
