25 Years of Giving Back! #cbhm #cbhm2016 #VT #NH #LebRecreation #VermontTourism #halfmarathons #WoodstockVT

Celebrate 25 Years!
On Sunday June 5, close to 2000 runners will run in the 25th Covered Bridges Half Marathon (CBHM). Since the first race in 1992, CBHM has donated over $1.2 million to non-profits in the Upper Valley!

Each year CBHM runners collect donations supporting our Charities. You don't have to run to support our Charities helping our neighbors!

Our Charities:

CBHM – Team WISE
WISE is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people and communities impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking. WISE provides a confidential and free 24 hour crisis line, support groups and workshops, emergency shelter and transitional housing, safety planning and accompaniment to hospitals, police stations, court houses and other social service agencies. WISE knows that we can end violence. The Prevention and Education Program at WISE teaches healthy relationship skills and sexual violence prevention to students, educators and parents, provides training on trauma-informed support for professionals, best practice for businesses and relevant workshops for your everyday life. WISE believes in empowerment and knows that individuals make their best decisions when they have information and support.

The Family Place

The Family Place is a Vermont designated Parent Child Center whose mission is to help every young child have his or her best chance of success in life. Through targeted, wrap-around supports and programs for parents and young children, our organization works to break the generational cycle that makes children more vulnerable to a future of repeated poverty, child maltreatment and underachievement. We offer parent education and job skills readiness, developmental screenings, child advocacy, support with quality child care and therapy services.

Health Connections of the Upper Valley

Have you ever wondered why a young person turns to drugs, gets smashed on alcohol, or given all we know about tobacco, starts smoking? As someone who is running a half marathon, you know the importance of making healthy choices, but many young people don’t- for a variety of reasons. Health Connections of the Upper Valley is a 501c3 health promotion organization that applies best practices to our outreach programs: alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention education and community policy development, nutrition education and afterschool cooking classes, and quit tobacco programs. Your support will help us to sustain our outreach work.

Upper Valley Haven

http://uppervalleyhaven.org/

Help local families struggling with homelessness and poverty. The Upper Valley Haven is a private not-for-profit organization, founded in 1980, that provides temporary shelter and educational programming for homeless families and adults, as well as food and clothing to those in need. The Haven is open 365 days per year and never charges for any of its services. We serve over 10,000 people per year. We create a community where people find hope and discover possibility.
Learn more about the Haven at www.uppervalleyhaven.org.

David’s House is a 20-bedroom, home-away-from-home for families with children receiving medical care through the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Founded in 1986, the house is named in memory of David Cyr who passed away at age 5 after a long battle with leukemia.

Celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2016, David’s House is a registered 501c3 nonprofit in Lebanon NH that has served as a haven for over 13,500 families who have needed overnight accommodations. Guest families include: 9,183 families from NH; 3,084 families from VT; 1,190 families from 42 other U. S. states; 1 family from a U. S. Territory; 43 families from other nations and counting!

We provide a warm, caring, fully stocked “home” for families whose worlds have been turned upside down. Guests may come for a day or for many months – it all depends on what the ill or injured child needs. David’s House operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to help families stay together and stay strong during this most difficult time.

We charge no fees for our housing, food or laundry services, so fundraising is very important and we’d like to ask you to help by joining Team David’s House in the upcoming CBHM.

Team Alzheimers

Long time runner and CBHM veteran Jane Lemire has been involved in fundraising in the Upper Valley since 2003. Jane and her Team of runners pioneered TeamAlzheimers for CBHM in 2004 by turning 15 race entries into $7,000 in donations. Since then, Team Alzheimers has raised over $200,000. All funds are donated to several Upper Valley private non-profit senior organizations that specialize in the care and/or services for people with dementia. TeamAlzheimers is a totally volunteer organization that donates 100% of its proceeds back into the community.
